LET'S START OFF WITH A COUPLE FUN QUESTIONS, SO PEOPLE CAN GET TO KNOW A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MARISSA!

What's one of your favorite spots/hangouts in KC?
Summit Grill for brunch. . .bottomless mimosas are on point.

If you aren't working a wedding, what would we find you doing for fun?
Traveling, hanging with friends, going to the lake, finding new Netflix series.

AND NOW, LET'S GET TO WORK:

How did you get into the wedding industry?
I went to K-State for Hospitality Management and got my foot in the door with an internship with the Hilton President. I have now held 5 different roles here and LOVE what I do.

How long have you been in business?
The hotel was re-opened in 2006, and I personally have been here since 2012.

Tell us a bit about the specific services you provide.
Venue, catering & bar, room block, on-site coordination, tables & chairs, and much more.

What makes your business stand out from others in your industry?
We are an all inclusive venue, so you get to check a lot off the list right away. This helps cut down on the number of different vendors you need to outsource, and creates one point person for everything. Not to mention we have a beautiful historic ballroom that has hosted many prominent events since 1926!

What's one of your favorite things about weddings?
I love seeing the couple's vision come to life for what they want their special day to look like. My favorite moment is bringing the couple into the ballroom for a private first look before we allow guests in.

What's your favorite month or time of year for weddings?
Probably May or June. I love seeing bright floral and the greenery is so lush that time of year.

Can you tell us about an unusual or super memorable wedding you've had?
This past October we had a brunch wedding, which was so much fun and so unique. The bride and groom were able to incorporate their personalities into almost every piece of the wedding day. They surprised all of the wedding guests (including the bridal party) with Batman officiating the ceremony! It was so fun to see the ballroom filled with morning light, bright colors, and a phenomenal donut cake.

What is your best advice for couples planning a wedding?
Step back and enjoy the day. Trust the incredible vendor team to execute your special day and just focus on enjoying every moment. Remember how you felt that day and cherish that moment forever.
