Kara and Mark | Kansas City Wedding at The American

If you’ve lived in Kansas City for any length of time, you are probably familiar with The American Restaurant. Opened in 1974, it was an iconic fine dining experience that has been missed by many since it closed its doors in 2016. Thankfully, however, it is still available for special events, and we were honored to photograph Kara and Mark’s wedding there recently!

They intentionally planned a simple and stress free day that was focused on just spending time celebrating with family and friends. We always love this approach, because after all, that is what weddings are really all about.

After they were dressed and ready, we took a little time for a few photos of the two of them before the pre-ceremony cocktail hour began. Everyone then casually gathered around, drinks in hand, to watch the two of them officially become Mr. and Mrs. We especially loved how they included Mark’s daughter in the ceremony. It’s obvious how much she is loved and she was so excited for her new little family!

One of our other favorite things about their day was that we set up a mobile portrait studio in the space for them and their guests. Think of it as a classier, more upscale alternative to a photo booth, and it’s the second one we’ve done this year! We’re hoping it continues to catch on because the results are fantastic!

Kara and Mark, thank you for allowing us to be the ones to document this part of your story. It was such a wonderful day and we are incredibly thankful to have been a part of it.

We would love to talk to you if you’re planning a wedding!
