Marisa and Jackson | Backyard Wedding in Kansas City

We love small backyard weddings. Let me say it again. . .we LOVE small backyard weddings. Truthfully, we love any kind of small, intimate wedding, whether it’s in a backyard, on a beach, in a park, or even in a living room. They are just so special and unpretentious and focused on all the right things. We could literally shoot them all day, everyday.

Jackson’s sister and brother-in-law graciously offered to host the wedding in their backyard in downtown Kansas City. The yard was set up beautifully for both the ceremony and dinner, The Russell catered the food [one of our faves. . .seriously, if you’ve never eaten there, go now], and the people who matter the most were there to support and celebrate them. A more extended group of family and friends watched the ceremony on a live stream, and we think that even when the pandemic is over this is something that should stick around. It’s the perfect way for couples to have the smaller weddings they want without having to exclude anyone.

One of our absolute favorite things from this day was how Marisa’s whole family walked her down the aisle. How special is that?!?
